LSO Instructions

Low back pain can be extremely debilitating and greatly limit activity levels.  Similar to a TLSO, an LSO or low back brace can increase abdominal pressure and limit low back mobility to effectively reduce pain for a variety of conditions including but not limited to:

  • Adjacent Segment Disease
  • Degenerative changes post surgical implantation
  • Degenerative Disc Disease
  • Disc Herniations
  • Facet Arthropathies
  • Mechanical Back Pain
  • Osteoporosis
  • Spondylosis
  • Abdominal Hernia’s

A common concern is that wearing a low back brace may lead to dependence and/or muscle weakening (atrophy). However, a recent literature review published in a prominent Spine Journal found that there is no definitive evidence that lower back braces cause muscular weakness (Azadinia et al., 2017).

Treatment options should be discussed with your physician or surgeon.
